Thomas O. Mcwhorter

CEO/President

Tom started in this industry in the 70s and has since made his way up to a Master. His passion for the industry is heavy in the work he has laid out in shaping the industry into what it is today with helping on Federal Advisory Committees, Board Chairmen, and Regulatory Compliance Standards.

James D. Norton

James has over (20) years in the railroad industry and ten (12) years in the oil/gas, material distribution sector. He began in the railroad industry as a Train Dispatcher and excelled throughout his career in operations upward into many senior leadership positions including General Manager of Operations. Most notably, James spent fourteen (14) years in Fort Worth, TX at the BNSF Railway in multiple executive management roles. Most recently, James has spent the last six (6) years as Chief Operating Officer for two different oil and gas companies and Vice President of Operations for a material distribution organization based in Dallas, TX. James has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Business Communications and additional MBA coursework from the University of Dallas.

Carolyn McWhorter

Executive Vice President

Growing up in this industry and learning from an early age, Carolyn brings the gift of her medical expertise as a nurse to help mariners understand the USCG medical standards they face today. Carolyn is also a member of the National-Merchant Mariners Medical Advisory Committee, feeding input from the industry into the USCG lawmakers along with being a licensed Master as well.

Sherry Raine

Executive Administrator/Finance Manager

Sherry is Maritime Services Group South's liaison when it comes to getting our students taken care of. Sherry handles the scheduling of classes and ensuring the program guidelines are met and exceeded during our training courses. Along with this sherry ensures that our HR responsibilities are met and is the accounting contact for the company.
